StreetCheck alternatives in 2026

StreetCheck – for years the go-to free postcode report – was acquired by CrystalRoof in March 2026 and its site now redirects there. If you used it to look up an area before moving, buying or renting, these are the real options now. All observations dated; check the services yourself before relying on them.

The official sources, if you prefer them
Everything on AreaChecker comes from official open data, and you can always go straight to it: data.police.uk (street-level crime, England & Wales), the GOV.UK flood risk checker, HM Land Registry price paid data, Ofsted school reports, ONS census and income statistics, and Ofcom broadband coverage. They are authoritative and free; the trade-off is visiting six or more sites and reconciling their different geographies yourself – which is the job AreaChecker does for you, with each figure linked back to its source.
